５月４日、今回も本番前日の練習日から基地にお邪魔しました。
まずは、スカイダイビングチームとディープブルースのコラボレーションです。パラシュートの周りを室屋さんとロバートさんがぐるぐる回るだけなのですが、長時間Gを我慢する必要があり、首が痛くなったそうです。
May 4th was practice day. We went to the base from morning. First
up was a practice flight with the "E Team" skydiving team " circling the
jumpers". This looks simple from the ground but is quite hard for the pilots
because of having to fly with constant 3 to 4 G loads for an extended period
of time and have the head turned up and to one side to watch the jumpers.
海軍のスーパーホーネットです。物凄い機動飛行を見せてくれました。
This is the NAVY Super Hornet. He show us a very
hard flight including some supersonic passes. We witnessed
the "boom" and the vapor "Fan" around the aircraft as it passed directly
in front over the runway. Great Show!

室屋さん、連日のトレーニングとデモ飛行ですっかり日焼けしてますね。

ロバートさん、ちょっと怖そうに見えますが、実際はそんなことありません。日本語完璧なので、エアショー会場で話しかけてみて下さい。
Robert looks fearful, but actually he
is very kind. Let's chat with Robert at the airshows. (His Japanese is
quite good.)
目の前を色々な飛行機が通って行くので、たまりません！Ｃ１３０のペラも近くで見ると大迫力です。
Many airplanes pass close by the "Air Bandits" parking
spot. This is the C130.
ブルーインパルスのフライトが始まりました。
The Blue Impulse flight gets underway.
ユルギスも興味深そうにブルーのフォーメーションを見ています。初めて見るのかな？
Jurgis watched the B.I.'s flight closely even though
he has seen their training flights before at their home base in Matsushima.
ユランウェイの端まで引っ張って、ズーム上昇。レシプロ機とはまた違った迫力です。
This BI plane did a very low pass along
the runway from take off and powerful pull up at the end of the runway.
ファンブレイクは、きれいでタイトなフォーメーションで、私は好きです。
This is the "FAN BREAK" formation. I like this beautiful tight formation.
このワイド・トゥ・デルタループも私が大好きな演目です。
This is the "WIDE TO DELTALOOP". This manoeuver is another
of my favourites.

The Blue Impulse performance comes to a close.
三沢のF-16デモチームも迫力のデモを見せてくれました。タキシング中に手を振ると、ばっちり挨拶してくれます。
The F-16 US Air Force Pacific demo team from Misawa showed us a great
demonstration too. The Pilot made a pose for my camera.
岩国のホーネットも今年はプラウラーと一緒にデモを見せてくれました。このパイロットもガッツポーズをしてくれました。
From Iwakuni, 2 F/A-18 Hornets showed their demonstration together
with a EA-6 Prowler. This Pilot made a "Guts" pose for me.
アレスティングフックを使っての着陸を見せてくれたプラウラー。意外と大きな飛行機だと感じました。
The Prowler landing using a arrester fook. I felt it was very
big airplane. This runway has a simulated carrier deck for landing training.
こちらも、４人全員でサービスしてくれました。

ＡｉｒＢａｎｄｉｔｓは、地上でフォーメーションの確認をしています。

この日のフライトが終了し、ハンガー前に帰ってきたスホーイ３機。ハンガーの中では、ブルーインパルス、ホーネットと一緒で、見たことがない風景になっていました。
After practice, 3 Sukhois returned to the hunger where
they were housed for the event together with the Blue Impulse planes and
several Hornets. A rare sight to see 3 Russian made Sukhois
together with Japanese built fighter trainers and US made F18 fighters.

自衛隊の展示機が続々と引き出されてきます。
The planes of the J.S.D.F. for ground exhibition
are towed over from their hangers on the Japanese side of the base.
ＵＳ−１Ａ改、昨年の１号機に替わり、今年は２号機が展示されました。

今回は、Ｔシャツ、ＤＶＤ，ポスター、携帯ストラップ、フェルトのマスコットと品揃え充実でした。
There were many AirBandits T Shirts and memorabilia available
for the Fans.
プログラムが終了し、ユルギスは当日のうちに富士川まで帰ることになりました。大急ぎで増漕を取り付け、ユルギスとサポートのセスナだけ出発です。
After the final AirBandits program, due
to approaching bad weather, Jurgis had to get back to Fujikawa immediately
otherwise he would have missed his plane back home to Lithuania.

ここで何故かプレスリー登場！歌も本物そっくりでした。 実は、この人スカイダイビングチーム「e-team」のメンバーです。「e-team」の「ｅ」はエルビスのｅなんだとか。
Excellent Presley impersonator made his appearance. He is a member
of the skydiving "E-team".

天候にも恵まれ、スホーイとジェットを堪能できた２日間でした。
ＡｉｒＢａｎｄｉｔｓの今年初めてのデモフライトとなりましたが、たくさんのお客さんに見てもらい、結構な数のＤＶＤを買って頂ました。一部の方からは好評も頂いています。次回のＡｉｒＢａｎｄｉｔｓは秋になりそうです。また楽しみにしたいと思います。
I fully enjoyed the Sukhois and Jets for two days. It was the
first displays of AirBandits this year. 230,000 visitors watched their
flights.
I am looking forward to next autumns AirBandits flights.
